Lauren Cheshire – Community Health Worker
Lauren started work towards the end of July and is our community health worker based at Friar Park Children’s Centre and is able to offer advice on adopting healthier lifestyles, whether it be advice on physical activity or showing ways of making tasty healthy meals for all the family. Lauren will be setting up various fitness clubs/activities for all ages and abilities as well as meal plans and or dietary advice.
Lauren was at the Breastfeeding café on the 1st August demonstrating “buggy fit” – an idea she has for helping mums use their buggies as a means to fitness. So far she has more than 12 mums interested in the “buggy fit” class she is hoping to start in September, using the school playground. Before then she will be setting up a “surgery” in the café area to offer advice and guidance to anyone wanting to get fit and eat well.
Lauren comes to us having been a personal trainer working in a gym and also running her own business creating exercise and meal plans for clients. She has had clients referred through G.P.s. and would welcome contact with our local G.P surgeries and Diabetes Specialist Nurses working in the area. Her last job was as a PE coach working in local primary schools delivering the national curriculum and also encouraging children to engage in physical activity out of school and to help them understand the importance of a healthy lifestyle.
Lauren is passionate about her job is looking forward to working in Friar Park .
